The second NETS symposium was held on June 21-22, 2004. The symposium was sponsored by the Army Corps of Engineers Institute of Water Resources (IWR) and was designed to review conceptual and practical designs and findings to date regarding studies and projects that had either been initiated or were in process. The goal of the symposium was to permit IWR, academic and non-academic participants to share, integrate knowledge, and identify and resolve issues in NETS related research. Some participants were present throughout the meeting, while others attended only a portion of the symposium to provide selected input. The following items and studies were reviewed during the symposium: HarborSym and the Glass Box Philosophy (Ms. Shana Heisey) International Spatial Forecasting of Grain Flows (Dr. William Wilson) Mid-American Grain Study (Dr. Kenneth Train) Pool Demands (Dr. Kenneth Boyer) Lock Efficiencies (Dr. Wesley Wilson) Appointment System (Dr. Don Sweeney) For more detailed information on the discussions review Summary of the 2004 Symposium (110 KB, pdf).
